Over the
last 9 years Monkhouse Hill has won numerous local and national awards
for quality, innovation, design, marketing, environmental practice and
the support of Cumbrian produce.
We have been awarded
either first place or runner up in the Cumbria Tourism Awards in 2001,
2003, 2004, 2007 and 2009. We have not entered the awards since taking
over chairmanship of the group at Cumbria Tourism which oversees
Quality.
In 2007 we became one
of the first accommodation providers in Cumbria to receive the GTBS Silver award, following a rigorous assessment of all our
environmental policies and practices.
All our cottages are have been
awarded either 4 or 5 stars by VisitBritain. Alongside the star
rating, each of our cottages has been considered by VisitBritain for a
Gold Award, a prestigious
accolade made only to the very highest scoring properties. We are
delighted that every single cottage at Monkhouse Hill has received a Gold Award
for 2009/2010.

We are also one of the few
groups of cottages to have been recognised by VisitBritain for the
efforts we make to welcome all four special interest categories -
Walkers, Cyclists, Families and Pets.
Unusually (possibly uniquely)
for a self catering operation, we have been accredited by AIM for the
manner in which we host small scale business meetings and seminars.
Our award record reflects our
continued investment in the cottages and services available at Monkhouse
Hill, in order to continue to exceed the
ever increasing expectations of our customers. During 2008, in
conjunction with Cumbria Tourism's 'Tourism Connect' project, we
undertook a major redesign and refurbishment of the interiors of all
cottages, the results of which are reflected across this web site.
